Rules and Guidelines
Competition Objectives
- Highlight Manufacturing and Woodworking Technology in high schools across Canada.
- Encourage students to develop and demonstrate the technical skills that they need to enter technical careers.
- Recognize students who excel in Manufacturing and Woodworking at the High School level.
- Create a database of fun, relevant projects that can be used by high schools to teach Manufacturing and Woodworking.
Competition Parameters
2008 Competition
Start Date: September 17, 2008
Registration Deadline: April 4, 2008
Final Submission Date: April 22, 2008
Eligible Participants
Any student or students enrolled in a high school technical program in Canada.
Registration
Students must complete registration form on www.koolprojects.com.
Each entrant must be sponsored by a full-time high school instructor.
Rules
- Project submissions must be made online in the Submissions section.
- Student is to enter individually.
- Submissions can be a single part or a project which is a number of parts assembled and fastened together.
- Each student submitting a part or project must be sponsored by their current instructor.
- Student must be enrolled full-time at a high school (co-op is acceptable).
- All drawings and files for projects and/or parts become property of In-House Solutions Inc.
- Projects or parts must follow the guidelines as listed below:
- parts or projects cannot be weapons-related, must not include any profanity or be used to perform an illegal activity
- must be designed and produced in school
- a CNC mill, CNC lathe or CNC router must be used to machine a portion of the part or projects
- Each submission must include:
- Digital photographs of each part. Data can be in BMP, JPG or GIF format.
- CAD files (dimensioned) for each part and assemblies (if applicable) in one of the following formats:
- Autocad (DXF, DWG, IPT, IAM)
- SolidWorks (SLDPRT)
- Solid Edge (PAR, PSM)
- ProE (PRT, ASM)
- IGES
- CATIA
- Mastercam (MC8, MC9, MCX)
- CAM files for each part in:
- The native file format of the CAM system being used.
- Mastercam (MC8, MC9, MCX)
- CNC files for each part.
- The KoolProjects Submission page filled out and submitted.
