Engine Inspection

Jun. 26, 2018

Back to Project:

Upon further research into the car, it was determined that the generator that creates the necessary voltage for the spark plugs to ignite was faulty and needed to be rebuilt. We tried our hand at dissasembling and soldering the necessary components in the generator, but that proved to be too difficult of a task to be able to repair the generator with assurance that there will be no problems with performance in the future. Oil leaks have been minimal since extracting the engine, so once the flywheel is off and the bearings are replaced, we expect the problem to be greatly diminished. Up next: analyze the transmission to see if we need to replace seals or if we can clean up the joints and seals well enough to stop the rest of the fluid loss.
